Press
Release
BSES & Delhi High Court
Legal Service Committee and to organise
2nd Special Lok Adalat on September
12 and 13
for on-the-spot resolution of
theft cases
Taking a cue from
the unprecedented success of its first Lok Adalat in March this year and
heeding to an overwhelming demand from its customers, BSES in association with the
Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, is organising another Special Lok
Adalat. The two-day Special Lok Adalat will be organised on September 12 and
13, at the premises of the Delhi High Court, from 10 am onwards.
The aim of this
Lok Adalat – in contrast to the one organised in March, is to give relief
especially to the non creamy layer. That is the reason the, cases of only upto
Rs 1 lakh were entertained.
The Special Lok
Adalat will provide a unique opportunity to BSES’ customers/ litigants for an amicable
on-the-spot settlement of their power theft cases, relating to both Direct
Theft (DT) and Dishonest Abstraction of Energy (DAE).
Cases that are
either pending in any Court of Law or are yet to be filed in any Court of Law
and upto Rs 1 lakh will be taken up by the Lok Adalat. Customers desirous of
settling their power theft cases can either come in person or through their
Advocates / Authorised representatives. They should remember to carry their Photo
Id and a copy of their bill.
Like the earlier
Lok Adalat – which saw 92% or over 2300 cases getting resolved on-the-spot,
BSES is expecting a good response to this Lok Adalat as well. To dispose off
cases in the quickest possible time, a total of 12 Courts (BRPL 7, BYPL 5) will
be set up for the purpose. BSES is also making special arrangements, like
setting up 12 Help Desks – manned by specially trained officials - to hand hold each consumer and to make their
experience hassle free. Of these two helpdesks – one each – are being dedicated
to cater to women and handicapped and senior citizens.
Showing concern
for the environment, BSES and the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee are
taking special care to make this Lok Adalat a paperless one. There will be no
physical movements of files. All relevant cases documents and files will be
accessible from the 16 computers that will be deployed for the purpose. “Post their ‘settlement orders’, customers
can pay their bills at the BSES Enforcement office within 5 days”, added a BSES
official
According to a BSES spokesperson, “BSES has
informed concerned customer about this Special Lok Adalat. In addition to
sending 25000 letter/notices to these consumers, the company is also running
radio spots on popular radio channels – several times in a day. We appeal to
all eligible consumers to make full use of this unique opportunity to settle their power theft related
disputes and grievances. This is a win-win opportunity for them; for it gives
them a chance to amicably settle their cases and an escape
from a time consuming and an expensive legal process”
BSES, Delhi’s premier power distribution
company, is committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to
all its consumers.
