BSES reaches out to those displaced by Delhi Floods

Distributes 5000 food packets

 

  • Rising levels of Yamuna have displaced hundreds of people in Delhi, especially those belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
  • Rising to  the occasion, BSES distributed over 5,000 foods packets to the needy
  • BSES has organized 4 teams – each consisting between 5 and 10 officials
  • The two-day relief operation was undertaken under the direct supervision of senior BSES management

·         Some of the areas where food packets were distributed include – (i) Old Usmanpur, (ii) Yamuna Pushta, (iii) Areas near ISBT and (iv) Batla House / Zakir Nagar

 

Rising levels of the Yamuna have crossed the danger mark in several places in Delhi, displacing hundreds of people, especially those belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of the society. Aiding Delhi Administration’s efforts and rising to the occasion, BSES has once again come to the rescue of the flood victims.

 

The company has distributed over five thousand food packets in affected areas / relief camps under its jurisdiction on Monday and Tuesday. “BSES has taken extra care to ensure that the food items distributed are nutritious and have a longer shelf life”, said a BSES official.

 

For the purpose, BSES had organised four teams – each consisting between 5 and 10 officials - depending on the area. The entire flood relief exercise by BSES was undertaken under the direct supervision of its senior management.

 

Some of the areas / relief camps where BSES teams distributed food packets include:

 

·         Old Usmanpur

·         Yamuna Pushta

·         Areas near ISBT

·         Batla House / Zakir Nagar

 

“This is an effort to ‘give back’ to the society. We have for the past few years always made a conscious decision to minimize the suffering of our flood affected people. It is integral to our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives,” said Mr Arun Kanchan, CEO, BSES.

 

Last year too, BSES had reached out to those affected by Delhi and Bihar Floods. For the Delhi Flood victims, we had distributed food packets and for those affected by the Bihar floods, BSES employees had contributed Rs 50 lakh, by donating their one day’s salary”, Mr Kanchan added.
