First Charge Port inaugurated in South Delhi, more to follow



After the successful roll-out of charge ports in East and Central Delhi – free till the Commonwealth Games - BSES is now all set-to roll out e-charge ports at various vantage points across South and West Delhi for the owners of electric cars. The location of each of these charge port too is being carefully selected based on the customer data of electric vehicles users.


In a simple ceremony today, the first of the charge ports was inaugurated today at BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’s (BRPL) office in R K Puram in South Delhi by Mrs Barkha Singh, MLA and Chairperson, Delhi Commission of Women. Others present on the occasion included senior BRPL and REVA officials.


Over the next few days, BRPL, in tandem with REVA electric cars, will inaugurate more such charge ports in South and West Delhi areas including Defence colony, Lajpat Nagar III, Bhikaji Cama place, South Extension, Shivalik, East of Kailash, Dwarka, Dabri Mor, Nizamuddin, Saket among others. They too, will be free till the Commonwealth Games.


After inaugurating the e-charge port, Mrs Barkha Singh said, “I am happy to note that the corporate sector is promoting the green cause. Sustained efforts like these will go a long way in popularising the use of zero emission electric vehicles in the city. This will also help make the ambient quality of air better”


According to a BRPL spokesperson, “Delhi is a model city for adopting electric transportation; be it 138 kms of Delhi Metro, highest number of electric two and four wheeler users and now e-rickshaws plying on city roads. Adoption of electric vehicles is being made possible in Delhi due to a world-class power supply. Delhi enjoys per capita power consumption of 1615 units – more than double the national average”.


We are happy that as a discom, we are setting a trend globally by offering free charge ports for electric vehicles. In addtion, recently we have tied-up with Hero electric to promote electric scooters amongst thousands its employees. BSES is committed to the Green cause and in pormoting electric vehicles we are also standing by our commitment for a ‘Clean Green’ Delhi”, added the spokesperson.
