Contemporary Lord Krishna devotees Stealing Electricity, not Butter

Nine Janamashtmi Organisers caught stealing over 450 KW of power; face penalty of Rs 2 crore

 

  • This blatant power theft, besides causing a financial loss also overburdens the system – causing unscheduled outages
  • BSES appeals to the organisers of such functions to take temporary legal connects
  • BSES has made arrangements for on-the-spot release of  such temporary connections

 

You will be surprised to know that nine big organisers of Janmashtmi melas were caught by BSES Enforcement Teams, stealing over 450 KW of power.

 

BSES Enforcement Teams are on a high alert and have constituted special teams to conduct random checks all over their licensed area. BSES Enforcement teams have also been receiving tip offs and complaints from its concerned and responsible customers. Yesterday, acting on these complaints, BSES Enforcement Teams caught nine big organisers stealing over 450 KW of power to conduct Janamashtmi pujas.

 

These functions / celebrations taking place in Dayanand Vihar (Raghunath Mandir Sanatan Dharam), I P Extension (Bharat Sanatan Dharam Mandir, Plot No 31), Vivek Vihar (Shri Ram Mandir, Block D), Dilshad Garden (Main Ram Leela Ground, opp GTB Hospital), Yamuna Vihar (Block C2 -Sanatan Dharama, Ram Rath Wala Mandir and Block C4 – Sanatam Dharm Shiv Shakti Mandir), Jagat Puri (Block A and Sanatam Dharam Mandir at B 38 Anarkali Garden) and Shankar Puri (Mohan T Tent Wala near Sanatan Dharam Mandir) were caught stealing between 37 and 100 KW of power. According to the Indian Electricity Act guidelines, cumulative penalties of around Rs 2 crore are likely to be imposed against organisers”

 

“Residents and Organisers of such functions should avoid illegal tappings from overhead power lines. This directly affects the power supply in the area and unnecessarily overburdens the system and causes unscheduled outages in the area” said a BSES official. The official added “BSES officials had informed RWA’s and organizers of such functions to take legal temporary connections”.

 

Arun Kanchan, CEO BYPL said “Janamashtmi – the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna marks the commencement of the festive season. It is the season good triumphing over evil. With Durga Pujas, Dushera, Ram Leelas and Diwali melas in the offing, he appealed to customers not to steal power and take temporary connections for all such functions. Arrangement have made for hassle free and on the spot disbursal of these connections”
