Press Statement by Shri Arun Kanchan, Chief Executive Officer, BYPL

I would like to share details of the incident that has affected normal functioning for the past 2-3 days:

Now this is an internal matter of the company. Being a public utility company, our effort is to provide the best possible service to all our esteemed customers. This can be achieved only if we remain a disciplined organization. You will appreciate that no organization can and will tolerate indiscipline.

Unfortunately, some vested interests are bent upon giving the incident an ugly face. They are turning the simple issue of indiscipline into a Management-Union issue. They are causing disruption of work and thereby inconveniencing the customers by forcibly closing certain offices and cash counters.

We are very concerned. In order to minimize the difficulty of our esteemed customers, we have directed all the Business Managers to ensure smooth functioning of their Divisions. All our business managers and staff are committed to cooperate with the consumers and to continue providing the best services.

We trust the section of employees who are causing this disruption understand that BYPL is a public utility and falls under the ambit of essential services. And that the Hon’ble High Court has issued an Injunction Order, prohibiting all employees from staging any form of demonstration within 150 meters of the office building (s).

Finally, through the media may I request our consumers to please bear with us.

We are determined to resolve the impasse but not at the cost of indiscipline.

BSES, Delhi’s premier power distribution company, is committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all its consumers.
