BSES listed for “NASSCOM CNBC
TV 18 IT User Awards 2009”
BSES has been declared as one of the three finalists
in the “Energy and Utility” vertical in the prestigious “NASSCOM CNBC TV 18 IT
User Awards 2009”. The other two finalists in this category are Reliance Infra
and HPCL.
The winner will announced in a much awaited ceremony,
on 2 December 2009 at the Taj Landsend, Mumbai. This is the second time in as
many years; NASSCOM had earlier recognised BSES for its IT deployments.
“BSES has been declared as one of the three
finalists and a contender for the final award for its successful implementation
of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) for Key
Consumers and Grids”, said a BSES spokesperson.
“The objective of these awards is to provide a platform for
organizations among the short listed verticals that are using IT to deliver
high business value to their customers. This year’s NASSCOM - CNBC TV18 IT User
Awards are recognising organizations that have used IT to improve their
efficiency and competitiveness in face
of the global economic slowdown.
The awards will showcase technology initiatives of the enterprises which
have helped in reducing costs, optimizing business processes, while creating
competitive advantage and having a positive impact on its stakeholders. The award is not in recognition of a
singular IT project, but evaluates an IT initiative (can be multiple
sub-projects) that meet a specific challenge”, said a BSES official.
The IT User Awards instituted by NASSCOM recognise enterprises across
verticals which have implemented projects demonstrating benefits of IT to the
enterprise, thereby promoting adoption of IT
The awards honourees are chosen by a combination of
extensive research and an expert jury. To reach this far, each of nominees had
to go through a very rigorous, multi phase evaluation process. In Phase I, the international consultancy firm
Nielsen carefully scrutinised the exhaustive qualitative and quantitative information
of dozens of nominations for each of the verticals. In Phase II, CIO and IT
Managers of each of the top 3 scoring enterprises were extensively interviewed
in a bid to understand the finer nuances of the IT implementation strategy of
the enterprise.
Post this, the details of individual implementations
of the top 3 scorers are then shared with the by an eminent jury, appointed by
NASSCOM. The eminent jury consists of Dinesh Kumar (Executive Director, IT,
NTPC), Krishnan Dhawan, (MD, Oracle India Private Limited), Pankaj Chandra,
(Professor and Director, IIM Bangalore), Prasanto Kumar Roy (President and
Chief Editor, ICT Publications, Cyber Media), Rajesh Uppal (Chief General
Manager – IT and CIO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd) and Saurabh Srivastava
(Chairman, CA India).
