Delhi High Court Legal Services & BSES

to organize Special Lok Adalat

for on-the-spot settlement of power theft cases

 

  • Special Lok Adalats scheduled for 14-15 March 2009 at the Delhi High Court premises

In order to provide yet another fast track grievance redressal opportunity to their customers, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), in association with Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, would organise a Special Lok Adalat on March 14 and 15, 2009. The Lok Adalat will provide an opportunity to BSES’ customers/ litigants for amicable on-the-spot settlement of their power theft cases, relating to both Direct Theft (DT) and Dishonest Abstraction of Energy (DAE).

 

Cases that are either pending in any Court of Law or are yet to be filed in any Court of Law and upto Rs 5 lakh will be taken up by the Lok Adalat. “The Special Lok Adalats will be organised from 10:00 am onwards at Delhi High Court premises. Customers desirous of settling their power theft cases can either come in person or through their Advocates / Authorised representatives. Moreover, they should carry their Photo Id and a copy of their bill”, said a BSES official.

 

“BSES expects a good response, we have couriered over 25,000 letters to our consumers,” said Shri Arun Kanchan, CEO, BSES.  “We have made special arrangements to speed up the entire exercise and cut response time to settle each case. It will literally be a “paperless” Lok Adalat and there will be no physical movement of files. BSES will be deploying software modules, which will make the entire customer case data available at click of a mouse”, he added.

 

“In the interest of speedy resolution, BSES has set up 4 special help desks to hand hold and guide such consumers. Post their ‘settlement orders’, customers can either pay their bills at the two specially set up cash counters or they can pay the amount at the BSES Enforcement office within 5 days”, added a BSES official.

 

According to a BSES spokesperson, “Besides offering consumers a unique opportunity to settle their power theft related disputes and grievances, this exercise will also help reduce the incidence of power theft and bring more people in the billing net. We appeal to the customer’s to come forward and make use of this unique opportunity”,
