Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), that asks households and businesses across the world to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour at the appointed time to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

To emphasis the significance, many celebrities and leaders across the world have also lent the event their support. Closer home film star Amir Khan has endorsed it. So has the Delhi Chief Minister Smt Sheila Dikshit.

Showing solidarity with the cause, BSES appeals to its domestic customers to whole heartedly support the event and voluntarily switch off their non-essential electricity on the March 28 for an hour staring 8: 30 pm. “Participation in this event is a token of commitment from each one of us to be an active member to reduce green house emissions and the impact of global warming in our own small ways”, said Mr Arun Kanchan, CEO of BSES.

It is also a great opportunity for the students to be part this global cause. To be part of this global movement, students can rework their study schedules and switch off and take a break during the Earth Hour. It is also a great opportunity for couples to rekindle the romance in their lives by having a candle light dinner at home/restaurants/hotels”, said a BSES official.
