Press Release
BYPL and Delhi Legal Services Authority to organise Special Lok Adalat
for East and Central Delhi consumers on Saturday, March 13, 2010
BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is all set to organise a one-day Special Lok Adalat, for its customers in East and Central Delhi. The Lok Adalat is being organised in association with the Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the Karkardooma Court premises on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
Acting on consumer’s feedback, this Special Lok Adalat will exclusively cater to the power theft cases already filed / pending before any of the Courts in Delhi, including the Special Court of Electricity, Karkardooma and Tees Hazari. “To ensure wider representation, the Lok Adalat will take penalty cases of upto Rs 5 lakh”, said a BYPL official.
“Through this Special Lok Adalat BYPL seeks to provide a one time opportunity to customers / litigants in East and Central Delhi - an amicable on-the-spot settlement of their power theft penalty cases of upto Rs 5 lakh, relating to both Direct Theft (DT) and Dishonest Abstraction of Energy (DAE). This will allow for a single window clearance to the litigants and help reduce the high number of pending cases at the Courts”, said Mr Ramesh Narayanan, CEO, BYPL.
“Like the last two Lok Adalat’s, which saw 93% and 92% of the cases getting resolved on-the-spot respectively, BYPL is expecting a good response to this Lok Adalat as well. To dispose off cases in the quickest possible time, a total of eight Courts will be set up for the purpose. BYPL is making special arrangements and setting up six Help Desks – manned by specially trained officials”, remarked Mr Ramesh Narayanan, CEO, BYPL.
BYPL and DLSA are taking special care to make this Lok Adalat a paperless one. There will be no physical movements of files. All relevant case documents and files will be accessible from the computers that will be deployed for the purpose.
According to Mr Ramesh Narayanan, “We have sent around 5,000 letter/notices to these consumers; will be distributing thousands of bi-lingual Hindi/Urdu leaflets during this week in East and Central Delhi and airing radio spots on popular FM stations. We appeal to all litigants to make full use of this unique opportunity to amicably settle their power theft related disputes and avoid a time consuming expensive legal process.”
“Post their ‘settlement orders’, customers will be given sufficient time to pay their penalty bills at the BYPL Enforcement Office and will be issued No Dues Certificate thereafter”, added a company official
BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
