“The contents of the professionally made 10 minute long Audio Visual (AV) CD have been carefully chosen and scripted by professionals – taking help from both BSES and Industry experts - in a manner that will be best understood and appreciated by young and impressionable minds”, said a BSES official.

Besides covering topics like Power outages and its reasons, Power shortage and its reasons, Power theft and the immediate need of Energy conservation, the audio visual also covers topics on international concerns like Global Warming, Rising Co2 emissions and Generation of Electricity through renewable resources. The film also outlines simply everyday measures that a person can adopt to alleviate many of these concerns.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely said “I congratulate BYPL for taking up this initiative. It was the need of the hour. Electricity is a very scarce resource and we need to use it optimally. Children have a receptive mind and we must harness their potential to ensure that our future generations learn how to use resources properly”.

On his part Dr A K Walia said “Hopefully most of the schools in East and Central Delhi will participate in this initiative. Students can be good brand ambassadors for energy conservation. Energy conservation will not only help reduce the peak demand, it will also help alleviate many of the global concerns like Greenhouse Effect and CO2 emissions”

The schools will then be requested to screen BSES’ Bijli Gyan CD to its students.” adding “Moreover, in order to encourage maximum participation from schools and students alike, BYPL will make special arrangements to screen the Audio Visual on energy conservation in schools which don’t have access to audio video facilities”.
