BSES contributes Rs 25 lacs towards Tsunami relief

Over 7200 employees of BRPL and BYPL donate a day’s salary to

mitigate the hardship of Tsunami victims

The Dec’26 killer Tsunami, which caused enormous loss of life and destruction of property, has left behind in its wake millions of broken families -- families which have not only lost their loved ones but also their livelihood.

In a small effort towards mitigating the sufferings of Tsunami victims, all employees of BSES -- from the Assistant Lineman to the CEO -- have contributed a day’s basic salary, amounting to Rs 25 lacs, towards the Prime Minister’s Tsunami Relief Fund.

“This effort”, according to a senior BSES spokesperson, “is the result of a company-wide email initiative by employees which asked all staff members to contribute generously to Tsunami relief. We hope our effort will go some way in helping the victims rebuild their lives”.

The cheque for Rs 25 lacs was jointly handed over by the General Secretary of the Delhi State Electricity Workers Union, Shri Hira lal Sharma, and the company CEO, Shri. Rakesh Aggarwal, to the Union Minister for Power, Shri. P.M.Sayeed, at Shramshakti Bhawan on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Sayeed commended “the collective effort” made by BSES employees and requested other corporates “to follow the BSES example” by donating generously to the cause of the Tsunami victims.
