Increased power demand to have a commensurate impact on electricity bills
BSES once again urges its consumers to use electricity judiciously as it will help in better management of demand-supply & reduce electricity bill
BSES is proud to help Delhi in facing this unprecedented heat wave, by ensuring reliable electricity supply.
The summer of 2010 is all set to go down in history as the hottest year ever. According to reports, the first four months have been the hottest on record in the last 100 years in North India. No North India city has been spared. Not even Shimla, which experienced the 2nd warmest March in 170 years. Thanks to the heat wave, the month of March was the second warmest ever in Delhi. There is no sign of the heat wave abating. At 46.5, June 20, 2010 was the warmest day in Delhi in years.
This
unprecedented heat wave has
a direct bearing on Delhi’s power consumption and therefore
electricity bills, which is growing exponentially and setting new
records every other day. The National Capital created history on June
21, 2010, when the electricity demand touched 4668 MW, the highest
ever recorded in Delhi. This was 25% more than the power demand (3712
MW) this day last year. Infact,
Delhi’s power consumption today is 37% more than the combined
power consumption of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, J & K and
Chandigargh.
