Gets
award for exceptional use of IT for Automation

The Mumbai- based Network Computing magazine has selected BSES as one
of
Earlier, the jury of Network Computing magazine
had
sent a detailed questionnaire to nearly 80 companies, including BSES, which use
“cutting edge technologies” in its day-to-day functioning. After examining the
most competitive response filed by the competitors, BSES was selected in the top
five Diamond
According to Mr
Arun Kanchan, CEO, BSES: “Automation improved our business by eliminating
redundant or manual processes, by making information more timely, accessible
and relevant, by streamlining existing business processes, and by closing gaps in the system. All this significantly
improved customer satisfaction levels, besides making our employees more
productive.”
BSES had launched its Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) project for its high-end
consumers. Now, there is no need to send a meter reader to download the
readings of a meter. Electricity meters of all big consumers have been linked
to BSES’ Control room. BSES can know the exact reading by putting a meter
number in the computer. There will be no manual interference in generating
bills. This has ensured the elimination of all complaints related to billing
issues.
The project is also beneficial for BSES. If a consumer tries to tamper
with his meter, the Control room will automatically know and can act
accordingly. This has helped reduce theft and AT&C losses.
