Delhi’s rising temperatures – hovering around 45 degree Celsius - and increasing use of Air Conditioners have led to an unprecedented rise in the demand for power – especially during the peak evening hours of 7 pm to 10 pm. The peak demand in Delhi has already touched a record high of over 3901 MW and in the coming days, it is likely to surpass the 4200 MW mark.

BSES has taken all required initiatives to ensure minimum inconvenience to its esteemed consumers. Under its Summer Action Plan, BSES has geared up its machinery to ensure stable and electricity supply to its consumers – subject to the availability of power from the Northern Grid. The Operations & Maintenance Department has been geared up to face every eventuality and its machinery including Hydraulic Tower Wagons, Breakdown Restoration Vans, Mobile Generating Sets, Emergency Power Restoration Vans and Fault Locating Vans have been put on call 24X7..

Saying that the company is geared up to provide stable power supply, a BSES spokesperson said: “Though some system issues like overdrawal by neignbouring states, dip in frequency levels, tripping/shutdown of generating stations etc put a great deal of strain on the Grids, We are making all efforts to minimize the inconvenience to out consumers. We, however, appeal to our consumers to use electricity judiciously, adopting the habit of Switching Off and not to use air-conditioners and other high energy consuming gadgets during evening peak hours.”

The BSES spokesperson also urged consumers against over-drawl and appealed that they be vigilant against those who steal power. Saying that around 35 % of electricity was still being stolen, the spokesperson urged all honest consumers to alert BSES against those who steal power.
