High powered Pakistan Delegation visits BSES

Delegation led by Mr M Ismail Qureshi, Secretary, Water and Power

A high-powered Pakistani delegation, led by Mr M Ismail Qureshi (Secretary, Water and Power), visited BSES today. He was accompanied, amongst others, by Mr Azeem Daultana, (Member Parliament), Mr Shah Jahan (Director, Planning and Policy, PPIB) and Mr Arif Alluddin (Chief Executive, Alternative Energy Development Board)

The Indian side was led by Mr Malay Srivastava (Director, Ministry of Power). Its other members included Mr Arun Kanchan (CEO BSES), Mr Ramesh Narayanan (VP, BSES), Mr Atul Trivedi (GM, APDRP, Ministry of Power) and Mr Harish Ahuja (Deputy Secretary, Power, GoNCTD).

The meeting was held at BSES’ state-of-the-art Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) Centre – the nerve centre of its distribution network. The Pakistani officials interacted with senior BSES officials - sharing and exchanging views, on power privatisation in Delhi. They were impressed with the heavy infusion of state-of-the-art technology by BSES to run the distribution business – including operations, maintenance, system control, use of GIS & AMRs and IT practices. “Remarkable,” said a delegation member when BSES CEO highlighted how BSES has reduced AT&C losses from over 63 % to around 29 % in just five years.

The high powered Pakistani delegation is in India to interact with leading personalities in the field of Planning, Finance, Energy, Agriculture and Communication.

“We are honoured and motivated by this visit of friends across the border. It is a historic moment, not only for BSES but for the power sector reform process. Today I feel confident to say that sooner than later BSES would create a benchmark for others to follow,” said Mr Arun Kanchan, CEO, BSES

BSES, Delhi’s premier power distribution company, is committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all its consumers.
