BSES apprehends two imposters,
hands them over to Sadar Bazar Police Station
Acting on a consumer complaint, BSES officials caught two imposters red-handed when they, posing as Enforcement Staff of BSES, went to collect Rs 20,000 as bribe from a resident of Model Basti under the Sadar Bazaar Police Station area on Thursday, 14th July 2005.
The two imposters, namely Balbir and Sidhu, were apprehended from 17, GF, Jhaboomal Colony, Model Basti. They were handed over to the Sadar Bazaar Police Station after the registration of a FIR No. 241. The police arrested the two imposters for offences under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003 and section 420 of IPC.
A BSES spokesperson said that the imposters had demanded Rs 40,000/- from Mr. Alok Sharma, owner of a residential two storey building, to save him from being penalized on charges of meter tampering. Investigations revealed that the two were employed with a local electrical sub-contractor familiar with the functioning of power distcoms.
Mr Rakesh K Aggarwal, BSES Director and Chief Executive Officer, said: “I personally thank the consumer who alerted us about this case.” He requested the 23 lakh plus consumers of the company to be alert against unscrupulous people and to assist the company eradicate the menace of touts.
