‘Network Innovation Award’ conferred on BSES

BSES Delhi has bagged the prestigious ‘Network Innovation Award’ in Information Technology. Conferred by Hughes Escorts Communication Ltd (HECL), the award is recognition of BSES’s IT department’s use of Advanced Networking Technologies for the benefit of its 23 lakh plus consumers.

While conferring the award, HECL hailed BSES for adopting established practices to run cutting edge technologies such as Oracle, D2K, Billing, SAP, Lotus Notes, AMR and SCADA. BSES won the award despite stiff competition from giants like Sony, Coke, BPCL, Galileo, and National Informative Centre.

BSES, since its entry in the national capital in July 2002, has established state of the art IT network and is one of the best in North India connecting more than 450 locations / offices. Nearly 75 BSES offices are connected with fibre optic cables, 250 ISDN connections and 130 VSAT locations. The hi-tech data centre functions on a 24x7 basis and houses 21 servers.  

Various IT tools have helped run the commercial as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) activities in an effective and efficient manner.   Automated Meter Readers (AMR), Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), Outage Management System (OMS) are all IT driven tools which have helped BSES tremendously in addressing consumer related issues.  

BSES-Delhi happens to be one of the few but the largest SAP users in utilities where-in SAP tools, one of the leading IT tools, are used for increasing productivity and enhancing efficiency.
