BRPL gets going on Non Tariff Revenue

Partners Axis Bank in installing ATM’s at its locations

BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has signed a far-reaching ‘24 x 7’ agreement with Axis Bank – one of India’s leading private sector banks. This path breaking agreement will not only strengthen BRPL’ customer care deployments, but also assist in the company’s quest to generate non-tariff revenue.

Under the agreement, the bank will set-up ATM machines at BRPL’ conveniently located Customer Care Centres – across South and West Delhi.

Incidentally, BRPL has become the first discom in the city to partner a bank to set-up ATM’s in its premises.

On eve of India’s Republic Day, today, the first ATM machine was inaugurated at the company’s Customer Care Centre at the Nehru Place Head Office, by Mr Gopal Saxena, CEO BRPL and Mr J P Singh, Senior Vice President and Circle Head Delhi NCR, Axis Bank. Others present on the occasion included senior officials from BRPL and Axis Bank.

More such ATM’s will be set-up at various BRPL locations, under the agreement with Axis Bank. Besides regular ATM features, going forward, these ATM’s - open 24 x 7 – will also be customized for BSES customers. Soon, BRPL customers having Axis Bank accounts will be able to pay their electricity bills directly through the ATM”, said a BRPL official.

Win-Win proposition

Setting-up of ATM’s at BSES locations is a win-win preposition for all the three parties: Customers, Bank and BSES.

Boost for Non Tariff Initiative

There is no substitute for a cost reflective tariff. To reduce the tariff pressure on its consumers to some extent, BRPL is exploring various non tariff sources of revenue generation. Setting-up of ATM’s at its premises is one such option”, said Mr Gopal Saxena, CEO BRPL.

The exercise to generate non-tariff income will ultimately benefit the customers. Whatever revenue is generated will reduce the operational expenses to some extent. This will help reduce the ARR and positively impact in reducing the tariff burden on the consumers”, added Mr Saxena.

Introduction of these ATM machines is part of an ongoing and continuous process at BRPL to constantly upgrade the level of customer services. In addition to these ATM’, BRPL’ customers can also pay their electricity bill at over 5000 locations – through a wide spectrum of options including BRPL Cash Counters, Credit Cards, Net banking, Auto Debit, neighbourhood Suvidhaa outlets, SMS, Phone, Internet, Easy Bill outlets, ITZ Cash Cards, Oxigen outlets, Bill Payment Kiosks, Skypak drop boxes, Nikat drop boxes, Jeevan Centres among others.

BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
