4 factories, including 3 manufacturing high-grade Melamine crockery

caught stealing over 400 KWs of electricity, likely to be penalized Rs. 2.1 crore

 

  • Raids starting as early as 3: 30 am conducted in Matiyala (Dwarka) and Peeragarhi (Nangloi)
  • Delhi Police and CISF personnel accompanied BSES Enforcement Teams

 

In a series of mass raids – starting as early as 3: 30 am and carried out in West Delhi, BSES’ Enforcement teams unearthed power theft of nearly 420 KWs. Of this, 3 mid-sized factories producing high-grade melamine crockery were caught stealing a whopping 330 KW of electricity. According to the provisions of the Indian Electricity Act 2003, owners of these four factories are liable to be cumulatively penalized Rs 2.1 crores.

In a BSES enforcement raid carried out in the wee hours of the morning – 3: 30 am to be precise – BSES caught a mid–sized factory producing high-grade Melamine crockery  – stealing a whopping 235 KW of electricity by way of Direct Theft (DT). A penalty of Rs 1.5 crore is liable to be slapped on the accused. Though the factory was being run by one Kiran Arora, BSES has booked both the user of the factory and the three registered consumers (brothers) – Narendra, Anand and Jagdish Kumar.

 

After wrapping up this raid, BSES Enforcement teams raided two more “Melamine” factories in the vicinity. By way of Direct Theft (DT), they too were cumulatively stealing 95 KWs of electricity. They are liable to be penalized around Rs 30 lakh each.

 

Power theft of 80 KW @ Plastic factory in Peeragarhi

 

The day wasn’t complete. In yet another enforcement raid, a BSES Enforcement team swooped down on a mid-sized plastic factory in Peeragarhi (Nangloi) and caught it stealing around 80 KWs of electricity by way of meter tampering. A penalty of around Rs 30 lakh is liable to be levied against the accused.

 

Following the relevant laws both in letter and spirit, all the accused have been given time to pay up the penalty. If they fail to do so within the stipulated timeframe, cases against the accused will be filed in the Special Court of Electricity.

 

Moreover, in all the four raids, BSES Enforcement teams were accompanied by personnel from Delhi Police and a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent.
