BSES Customers have said YES to Energy Conservation. BSES’ innovative energy conserving scheme – Buy One, Get One Free CFL offer – has been received very enthusiastically by its customers. On popular demand, the scheme has been further extended till March 31, 2007.

The scheme launched in tandem with Indo Asian Fusegear Limited – one of India’s largest manufacturers and exporters of CFL on October 24, 2006 has turned out to be a big hit. In about two month’s time, over 1.50 lakh CFL’s have been sold from the 52 special kiosks set up at BSES Customer Care Centres and select Cash Counters.

“Buy One, Get One Free” CFL Scheme for BSES Customers is a one of its kind offer, which not only helps customers save energy but also helps to bring about substantial monetary savings. No other discom in the country has been able to replicate the offer” said an Indo Asian Fusegear official.

The data collated has revealed interesting trends. The data indicates BSES’ West Delhi customers by buying over 55,000 CFL’s continue to take the lead in energy conservation. South Delhi is a close second with over 50,500 CFL’s being bought. East and Central are at the third and the fourth spot with over 33,700 and 10,700 CFL’s being bought.

Another interesting trend observed was that the 15 Watt CFL (equivalent to 75 Watt at Rs 150 for 2) is the most popular among the customers - with over 61,000 being bought. The 11 W CFL (equivalent to 60 W at Rs 135 for 2) sold nearly 44,600 pieces closely followed by the 20 W CFL (equivalent to 100 W at Rs 200 for 2) which sold over 44,000 CFL’s.

Substituting the normal incandescent bulbs with these low consumption, high brightness output CFL’s will lead to massive savings. Savings accruing from the over 1.50 lakh CFL’s sold from BSES’ outlets will lead to a reduction in maximum demand by nearly 10 MW at a given point of time– enough to power three average shopping malls in Delhi and lead to energy saving of over 14 million units annually.

“Looking at the enthusiastic response to this energy and money saving scheme, BSES – in association with Indo Asian Fusegear Limited is also making the “Buy One, Get One Free”, CFL offer available at its various customers touch points. Recently, a special kiosk was put up at the BSES stall at the recently concluded four day exhibition “Showcasing Delhi Power Sector” at Pragati Maidan. Enthusiastic visitors to the stall bought around 2,000 CFL’s. A similar response was received at the recent Aapke Dwar organised for the customers at Saket”, said a BSES official.

BSES, Delhi’s premier power distribution company, is committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all its consumers.
