BYPL CEO moots the idea of sports board for Delhi power utilities
at T 20 Power Cup finals
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the T 20 Power Cup 2011, Mr Ramesh Narayanan, CEO BYPL, mooted the idea of a Delhi Sports Board for Power Utilities. This, he said, will not only lead to better utilization of Delhi’s world-class sports infrastructure, but also nurture talent. As Delhi’s power utilities are one of the biggest employers in the city, such a step will help groom champions. He gave this suggestion to Delhi’s Chief Secretary Mr Rakesh Mehta, who was the chief guest at the function.
BYPL CEO Mr Narayanan also informed that there are many national and state level players working in the Delhi power utilities. Incidentally, six players of the Delhi State Football team participating in the ongoing national championships in Jharkhand are from BSES.
Earlier, New Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (NDMC) convincing win over North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) in the final’s of the Power Cup 2011 yesterday (February 13) concluded the apex level inter ‘power’ utility T 20 Cricket tournament, organized by BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL). Both the teams had topped their respective groups.
The tournament saw animated action between the honchos of Delhi’s six power utilities, including Delhi Transco Ltd., Indraprasthra Power Generation Company Ltd., BSES Rajdhani Power Limited., BSES Yamuna Power Limited., North Delhi Power Limited and New Delhi Municipal Council).
The super-charged finals at DDA Poorvi Khel Parisar, Tahirpur, Dilshad Gardens in East Delhi saw Mr Parimal Rai (Chairman) led NDMC winning the toss and electing to field. Put to bat, NDPL were all-out in 16.4 overs, scoring 97 runs. NDMC won the match by 8 wickets in all of 7.2 overs. Mr Parimal Rai’s fine-bowling spell - 5 wickets for 11 runs in 2.4 overs – sealed the match in NDMC’s favour. Mr Ajey Maharaj was the highest run getter for NDPL, scoring 27 runs.
The tournament brought out-the ‘power’ honchos cricketing prowess to the fore – earning them kudos.
Best Batsmen - Mr Naveen Vats’ (AVP, BYPL) for his explosive batting in the tournament.
Best Fielder - Mr Ramesh Narayanan (CEO and Captain BYPL)’s for his excellent fielding during the tournament.
Man-of-the-Series - Mr Ajey Maharaj’ (Captain, NDPL) for his all-round performance in the tournament. He was also felicitated with an environment friendly electric scooter.
Man-of-the-match - Mr Parimal Rai (Chairman and Captain NDMC) for his bowling performance in the finals.
Mr. Rakesh Mehta, Secretary, Chief Secretary, GoNCTD was the Chief Guest and presented the awards at the closing ceremony. Other present on the occasion included, Mr Parimal Rai (Chairman, NDMC), Mr Gopal Saxena (Captain and CEO, BRPL), and senior officials from the participating companies.
