Press Release
“Green” Special Lok Adalat for on-the-spot settlement of power theft cases
being organised by BRPL and Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee
Following the unprecedented success of its first two Lok Adalat’s in September and March last year, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) in association with the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, is organising its 3rd Special Lok Adalat. The two-day Special Lok Adalat will be organised on February 13 and 14, at the premises of the Delhi High Court, from 10 am onwards.
Besides providing an opportunity to BRPL’ customers/ litigants residing in South and West Delhi for an amicable on-the-spot settlement of their power theft cases, relating to both Direct Theft (DT) and Dishonest Abstraction of Energy (DAE), this two-day Lok Adalat promises to be “green” and environment friendly.
BRPL and the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee are taking special care to make this Lok Adalat a paperless one. There will be no physical movements of files. All relevant case documents and files will be accessible from the eight computers that will be deployed for the purpose. “This two-day “green” paperless Lok Adalat is expected to save over 30,000 A4 sheets or equivalent of nearly four full grown trees”, said a BRPL official. “The last two “paperless” Lok Adalats saw BSES doing its bit to conserve nine full grown trees”, added the official.
“To ensure wider representation across consumer categories, cases that are either pending in any Court of Law or are yet to be filed in any Court of Law and upto Rs 5 lakh will be taken up by the Lok Adalat. Customers desirous of settling their power theft cases can either come in person or through their Advocates / Authorised representatives. They should remember to carry their Photo Id and a copy of their bill”, said a BRPL official.
“Like the last two Lok Adalat’s, which saw 93% (1444) and 92% (1056) of the cases getting resolved on-the-spot respectively, BRPL is expecting a good response to this Lok Adalat as well. To dispose off cases in the quickest possible time, a total of eight Courts will be set up for the purpose. BRPL is also making special arrangements, like setting up six Help Desks – manned by specially trained officials - to hand hold each consumer and to make their experience as hassle free as possible”, remarked Shri Gopal Saxena, CEO, BRPL.
“Post their ‘settlement orders’, customers will be given sufficient time pay their bills at the BRPL Enforcement and issued No Dues Certificate”, added a company official
To ensure the success of the Lok Adalat, BRPL is taking all possible steps to inform eligible customers through various channels. Besides sending over 12,000 letter / notices, the company is also running radio spots on popular FM stations.
According to Shri Gopal Saxena, “We appeal to BRPL consumers of South and West Delhi to make full use of this unique opportunity to settle their power theft related disputes and grievances. This is a win-win opportunity for them; for it gives them a chance to amicably settle their cases and an escape from a time consuming and an expensive legal process”. “Such Lok Adalats, not only give an opportunity to consumers/ litigants to have their cases disposed off quickly and amicably, they also go a long way in reducing the burden on the courts”, he added.
BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
