with Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, are organizing a
two-day ‘special’ Lok Adalat on December 11 (Saturday)
and 12 (Sunday) from 10 am onwards at the Delhi High Court premises.
The two-day Lok Adalat will provide BSES customers/ litigants residing in South, West, East and Central Delhi , a one-time opportunity, for an amicable and on-the-spot settlement of their power theft cases, relating to both Direct Theft (DT) and Meter Tampering (DAE). Moreover, keeping with BSES’ pro-environment policies, this two-day Lok Adalat promises to be “green” and an environment friendly affair.
BSES and Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee are taking special care to make this Lok Adalat a paperless one. There will be no physical movements of files. All relevant case documents and files will be accessible from the 30 computers that will be deployed for the purpose. This two-day “green” paperless Lok Adalat is expected to save over 70,000 A4 sheets or equivalent of over nine full grown trees.
“Meter tampering or direct theft cases that are either pending in any Court of Law or are yet to be filed in any Court of Law will be taken up by the Lok Adalat. Moreover, to give a wider-representation to all categories of consumers, cases of any amount will be entertained. Earlier, there was a cap of 5 lakh on the case amount”,
“Customers
desirous of settling their power theft cases can either attend
in
person or through their Advocates / Authorised representatives. They
should remember to carry their Photo Id and a copy of their penalty
bill”, added a BSES official.
“The last three Lok Adalats have seen 6661 cases worth around Rs 30 crore getting resolved on the spot. We are expecting a good response to this Lok Adalat as well. To dispose off cases in the quickest possible time, a total of 20 Courts will be set up for the purpose. BSES is also making special arrangements, like setting up 12 Help Desks – manned by specially trained officials - to hand hold each consumer and to make their experience as hassle free as possible”, remarked a BSES official.
“Post their ‘settlement orders’, customers will be given sufficient time to pay their bills at the designated BSES Enforcement offices and issued No Dues Certificate”, added the official
To ensure the success of the Lok Adalat, BSES is taking all possible steps to inform eligible customers through various channels. Besides sending letters / notices, the company is also running radio spots on popular FM stations.
According to a BSES spokesperson, ““We appeal to BSES consumers of South, West, East and Central Delhi to make full use of this unique opportunity to settle their power theft related disputes and grievances. This is a win-win opportunity for them; for it gives them a chance to amicably settle their cases and an escape from a time consuming and an expensive legal process”. “Such Lok Adalats, not only give an opportunity to consumers/ litigants to have their cases disposed off quickly and amicably, they also go a long way in reducing the burden on the courts”, added the official.
BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
