BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is all set to organise a one-day Mega Lok Adalat, for its customers in East and Central Delhi. The Lok Adalat is being organised in association with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) at the Karkardooma Court premises on Saturday, December 10, 2011. It will commence at 10 am.
“Through this Mega Lok Adalat, BYPL seeks to provide a one time opportunity to customers / litigants in East and Central Delhi for an amicable on-the-spot settlement of their power theft penalty cases of upto Rs 25 lakhs, relating to both Direct Theft (DT) and Meter Tampering (DAE). This will allow for a single window clearance to the litigants and help reduce the high number of pending cases at the Courts.
Acting on consumer’s feedback, this Mega Lok Adalat will cater to all the power theft cases, including those already filed / pending before any of the Courts in Delhi, including the Special Court of Electricity, Karkardooma and Tees Hazari.
Customers desirous of settling their power theft cases can either attend in person or through their Advocates / Authorised representatives. They should remember to carry their Photo Id and a copy of their penalty bill.
“Like the last two Lok Adalat’s, which saw 93% and 92% of the cases getting resolved on-the-spot, this Lok Adalat too is expected to get good response. To dispose off cases in the quickest possible time, a total of 20 Courts will be set up for the purpose. BYPL is making special arrangements and setting up ten Help Desks – manned by specially trained officials”, said a BYPL spokesperson.
Post their ‘settlement orders’, customers will be given sufficient time to pay their penalty bills at the BYPL Enforcement Office and will be issued No Dues Certificate thereafter.
BYPL and DSLSA are taking special care to make this Lok Adalat paperless one. There will be no physical movements of files. All relevant case documents and files will be accessible from the computers that will be deployed for the purpose. This two-day “green” paperless Lok Adalat is expected to save around 15,000 A4 sheets or equivalent of over two full grown trees.
Specially designed leaflets are being distributed to inform people in East and Central Delhi about the Mega Lok Adalat. Around 25,000 letters/notices have been sent to BYPL customers in East and Central Delhi by DSLSA. All litigants are requested to make full use of this unique opportunity to amicably settle their power theft related disputes and avoid a time consuming expensive legal process.
According to a BYPL spokesperson, “We appeal to BYPL consumers of East and Central Delhi to make full use of this unique opportunity to settle their power theft related disputes and grievances. This is a win-win opportunity for them; for it gives them a chance to amicably settle their cases and an escape from a time consuming and an expensive legal process. Such Lok Adalats, not only give an opportunity to consumers/ litigants to have their cases disposed off quickly and amicably, they also go a long way in reducing the burden on the courts”.
BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
