RWAs respond overwhelmingly to BSES initiative to train Electricians

·        RWA nominate neighbourhood electricians for training

·        Over 400 electricians attend 3-hour training module

As part of its ongoing customer awareness program, BSES’ initiative to train neighbourhood electricians, particularly those nominated by RWAs, has received an overwhelming response. Titled “Training on Essentials of Internal Wiring & Meters”, the programme has witnessed the successful training of over 400 electricians during the past three weeks.

BSES began the programme first by training its employees and then by extending it to electricians employed by certified and licensed contractors in its licensed area. Further to make the program more participative, and also in response to requests from RWAs, BSES last fortnight sent letters to all the RWA’s requesting them to nominate neighbourhood electricians for attending the free training sessions.

“We are delighted. A large number of RWAs have got in touch with us by positively responding to this pioneering initiative. Many of them have even invited us and offered space so that our experts could go there to conduct the training,” said Mr Lalit Jalan, Director and Member Executive Committee, BSES.

The unique program, started on November 26, 2005, for RWA’s in two weeks has trained over 400 electricians, nominated by many RWA’s including RWA’s of

·  DDA Flats Sheikh Sarai- I (Nominated by Mr Rakesh Bhardwaj),

·  Munirka Vihar Welfare Associations (Nominated by Col (retd) Shivraj),

·  Triveni – Sheikh Sarai – II (Nominated by Mr Vishnu Sinha),

·  Federation of Vasundhra Enclave (Nominated by Mr J P Sharma),

·  G K – II Welfare Association (Nominated by Mr V K Gauba),

·  Federation of Group Housing Societies (Nominated by Mr M N Bhattacharya).

The three-hour interactive program is conducted in small batches and is led by a team of experts - both from BSES and outside. The training session includes an exhaustive power point presentation that seeks to give a holistic training to educate and train the neighbourhood electricians on various issues relating to internal house wiring and various functions of the meters.

According to Neeraj, one of the participants, “the training is very useful as it gave us a good opportunity to share our experiences with experts.” A BSES spokesperson said that the training would go on for many months as the list of participants is growing. There is a long queue in East Delhi where RWAs have sent their recommendation to BSES Yamuna Power Ltd’s office at Karkardooma.

“Our singular mission is to delight our esteemed customers. With the cooperation and support of the RWAs, we would ensure that electricians in every Division, every District and each locality are benefited from this training. There is a pressing need to create a pool of trained and educated electricians,” said Mr Lalit Jalan

BSES, Delhi’s premier power distribution company, is committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all its consumers.
