In addition, a state-of-the-art 66/11 KV Commonwealth Games Grid was set-up to power the Commonwealth Games Village. To ensure uninterrupted power supply and to take care of any unforeseen eventuality, this Grid substation has two 25 MVA transformers - one primary and the other, its back up. Even if the primary transformer fails for some reason, the backup transformer will immediately take over and ensure continuance of uninterrupted power supply. Together with this, the electrification of the Commonwealth Games Village was executed at a cost of over Rs 40 crore.
Speaking about Games preparedness, a BSES spokesperson said, “Gearing up to play a role as a major stakeholder for ensuring the success of the Commonwealth Games 2010, BSES is preparing to meet the challenges of providing uninterrupted and stable power supply.”
“We are all set to play our role as the host discom. BRPL and BYPL have been continuously engaged in sprucing up and augmenting their infrastructure by deploying world class technologies like SCADA and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). These technologies are helping BSES streamline its distribution network and aiding in faster identification-isolation-and restoration of faults”, added the spokesperson.
BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
