New Delhi, August 5, 2010 Press Release

Now BSES customers have “Suvidhaa”

of paying their electricity bills at over 1200 neighbourhood stores

Now the over 25-lakh customers of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) have the “Suvidhaa” of paying their electricity bills at a neighbourhood kirana store. For the purpose, the companies have entered into separate agreements with “Suvidhaa” Infoserve, enabling their customers to pay their electricity bills at any of the 1200 “Suvidhaa” ‘empowered’ kirana stores across Delhi and NCR (and 23,000 across 20 states and 500 cities).

According to the agreements, BRPL’ over 15 lakh customers residing in South and West Delhi will have an option to pay their electricity bills through both cash (upto Rs 4,000) and cheque/DD. Over 11 lakh customers of BYPL in East and Central Delhi, in the first phase, will have an option of paying their bills through cheque and Demand Draft.

These conveniently located kirana outlets (including mobile stores / medical stores/phone booths / Cyber Cafés etc) are connected with the BSES server – online and all transactions are recorded on a real-time basis. As a result, not only are the electricity bills instantly paid, but the customers also get an instant acknowledgement of their payment”, said a BSES spokesperson.

It is extremely easy to pay one’s electricity bill through using this medium. All a customer has to do is simply walk-in into a “Suvidhaa” empowered kirana store, state the CRN Number and make the payment (cheque / cash), essentially in the same manner as they would normally do at a BRPL/BYPL Customer Care Centre. Customers can pay their BRPL/BYPL electricity bills through this service by paying a nominal transaction fee of only Rs 3 (Rupees Three only) per bill to the retailer. “Now a customer has the flexibility and convenience of paying their BSES electricity bill even after office-hours as most of these neighbourhood outlets are open well into the night”, said a BSES official.

Besides paying BSES electricity bills, “Suvidhaa” outlets can also be used to obtain tickets / reservations for Railways, Air, Bus, hotels, make payments for telecom products, entertainment, financial services etc.

Increasingly our services are designed keeping the customers convenience in mind. BSES’ tie-up with “Suvidhaa” is yet another example in this direction. Since the customers will be walking to the neighbourhood store, it will also help reducing their carbon footprint”, added the spokesperson.

According to a BSES spokesperson, “In addition to paying their electricity bills through 1200 “Suvidhaa” outlets, BSES customers can also pay their electricity bills at over 3000 locations – through a wide spectrum of options including BSES Cash Counters, Credit Cards, Net banking, Auto Debit, Minc Bill Boxes (at Metro Stations), SMS, Phone, Internet, Easy Bill outlets, ITZ Cash Cards, Oxigen outlets (only BRPL), Bill Payment Kiosks, Skypak drop boxes, Nikat drop boxes, Jeevan Centres among others”.

BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
