To undertake these enforcement raids with microscopic accuracy, the discom is relying heavily on modern analytics and technology. For the purpose, energy input data from the over 6,000 Distribution Transformers (DT) is being collated and analysed by a centralized team and power-theft locations narrowed-down significantly.
According to a BRPL spokesperson, “BSES discoms have been leading a crack-down on power theft. Since July 2002, they have booked over 1.71 lakh (BRPL 1.05 lakh, BYPL 63,000) cases for power theft and unearthed a power theft load of over 1100 MW. Incidentally, this is more than double of Delhi’ peak power demand of 583 MW in 1981.
BRPL and BYPL, Delhi’s premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.
