Lalit Jalan to be Chairman of BRPL and BYPL

BSES restructures top management in Delhi

The board of directors of Reliance Energy Ltd. (REL), met today to approve the up gradation of its leadership bandwidth in the management of BSES companies - BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. (BYPL). Lalit Jalan, has been appointed as Chairman of BRPL & BYPL and also been nominated as Director on the board of BRPL.

Mr. Jalan was appointed CEO of BRPL and nominated on the board of BYPL in 2005 and under his leadership, both the companies of BSES have been able to achieve significant results including a reduction in load shedding by 95%, reduction in AT&C losses to 29.9% (BRPL) and 39.1% (BYPL).

On his appointment as Chairman of BRPL & BYPL, Mr. Jalan, said, “We at BRPL & BYPL always endeavor to provide uninterrupted, reliable and quality power ensuring highest levels of customer service. This determination will continue to be our driver in the future also.”

After completing his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1979, Mr. Jalan did his Masters in Computer Science and MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from IIT, Kanpur and was also chosen as one of the 15 achievers from the IIT system who were showcased as IIT Spirit during the opening ceremony of 50th Anniversary Celebration (PAN IIT 50) organized at Silicon Valley, California in January’ 2003.
