A giant step to improve power supply: BSES dedicates Rs 12 crore Paschim Vihar Grid to West Delhi consumers
BSES, living up to its commitment to ensure world class quality power supply dedicated the state-of-the-art 33 / 11 KV - 40 MVA Paschim Vihar Grid to the over 65,000 residents of the area in a simple but well attended ceremony today.
The state-of-the-art Grid was formally inaugurated by Shri Sajjan Kumar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament. Those present on the occasion included Hon’ble MLA of the Delhi Assembly - Shri Mala Ram Gangwal, MCD Councilors – Shri Suresh Yadav and Shri Surjan Lal Panwar, besides senior government and BSES officials.
“It has been 16 years since an in-house grid of this size has come up in West Delhi. We are happy to announce that this 33 / 11KV – 40 MVA Grid, with an investment of over Rs 12 crore has been built in a record time of 10 months,” said Shri Vijay Khullar, Chief Operating Officer, BRPL. He further added, “Over 16-kms of cable has been laid to commission this grid to meet the present and future requirements of this densely populated area.”
Complementing BSES for commissioning the Paschim Vihar Grid, Shri Sajjan Kumar, Hon’ble MP said, “This grid has fulfilled the long standing demand of the residents and commercial establishments of this densely populated area and we hope that this grid will further improve the power situation – especially in the difficult summer months.” Power situation in the Capital has greatly improved under the private discoms, and urged the customers to help the discoms fight the menace of power theft, he added.
The commissioning of the Grid, by easing the load on the Madipur and Paschim Puri Grids, which have been operating at over 80 percent capacity will ensure stable power supply to over 65,000 residents living in parts of Madipur, Paschim Vihar, Cottage Enclave (Avtar Enclave), Multan Nagar, Paschim Vihar Extn, Pragati Apartments (DDA flats).
Also important institutions and establishments in the area including Balaji Action Medical Hospital, Agrasen Hospital, Bhartiya Vidyapeeth Engineering College, Paschim Vihar Sports Complex, Railway Booking Office, DJB Water pumping stations at Khyala and Peeragarhi will also be immensely benefited. The Central Ordinance Depot in Delhi and the IOC, BP and HPCL depots will also be benefited.
“With the commissioning of this Paschim Vihar grid, there will be improved power supply to the DJB Pumping stations at Khayala and Peeragarhi which will go a long way in reducing the water woes of the area”, said a BSES official.
According to a BSES spokesperson “The high-tech Grid Station, spread over an area of 1.5 acres, incorporates some of the latest advancements in distribution technology”. All the equipments installed in the Grid including power transformers, 10 Siemens 33 KV transformer panels, 25 ABB 11 KV indoor Panel boards are SCADA compatible – the soon to be unveiled technology that will revolutionise power distribution in Delhi. When implemented, the Grid can be remotely operated from the Central Control Room at Balaji Estate, leading to faster resolution of breakdowns and complaints
