BSES Team donates blood

Blood Donation Camp organised by Red Cross Society

  • 116 units of blood donated by BSES employees
  • BSES ties up IRCS to organise annual Blood Donation Camps
  • At 29%, Delhi has one of the lowest Voluntary Donations in the Country

There is no gift, more precious than life. And Blood, runs through the very veins of this gift. On the occasion of Dhirubhai Ambani’s Death Anniversary on 6 July 2009 and as part of its 360 degrees Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, BSES in association with the Indian Red Cross Society organized two voluntary Blood Donation Camps.

The Blood Donation Camps saw an overwhelming response from BSES employees. “A total of 116 employees – cutting across departments and functions - came forward and donated one unit of blood each”, said a BSES official.

The entire paraphernalia for the Blood Camp, including trained doctors was provided by the Indian Red Cross Society. The IRCS also issued donor cards to these ‘employee’ donors.

There is no substitute for blood – the lifeline of human existence. There is always a dearth of useable blood. According to studies, at 29%, Delhi ranks one of the lowest voluntary blood donation percentages in the country.

According to Mr Arun Kanchan, CEO, BSES, “We would strive to strength the need for voluntary blood donation in Delhi as part of our CSR initiatives. BSES appeals to its customers to come forward and donate blood”.

BSES, Delhi’s premier power distribution company, is committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all its consumers.
